Irrfan Khan includes in such a group of persons who have been mentioned in the earlier line. Stage and films are such mediums which are given much importance by our society as these mediums work for the guidance of the society. It is the reason stage and film actors all seem as a revered personlaties in our society and those who win the heart of the people by their unparallel actings become the ideals of society. Irrfan Khan was one of him who always won the praises of people for his heart touching actings. His films like 'Maqbool', 'Hasil', 'Piku', 'The Namesake', 'Rog', 'Pan Singh Tomar', 'Angrezi Medium', 'Hindi Medium', 'Life in a... Metro', 'Billu Barber', 'The Lunch box', 'Salam Bombay', 'Kali Salwar', 'Supari', 'Right ya wrong', 'Footpath', 'Haider' etc. are films which present the bitter truth of the society. As far as audience are concerned they are compelled to praise his actings with open hearts. Infact all his films are concerned with the social issues haunting the society. The names of his films itself indicate towards the bitter issues of the society. It seems that when any producer wanted to make a film on bitter reality of the society. He was compelled to sign Irrfan Khan as a Hero in such a film as the producer knew about Irrfan Khan's ability to turn the character into real life and when Cine goers watched the film, they become spellbound after seeing the acting of Irrfan Khan in the film and they come to the conclusion that Irrfan Khan bring life in the character for which he has been signed.
The film career of Irrfan Khan was full of struggle. Although he started struggle in the film industry in 1988 with a character role in the film 'Salaam Bombay' but he was not recognised as a Hero till 2003. In this year two films 'Maqbool' and 'Hasil' brought popularity for him and gave him recognisation as a hero. During his struggle period, he opted for television screen for earning his livelihood. He played the lead role in the number of television serials for which he gained praise and appreciation from TV viewers like 'Chanakya', 'Bharat Ek Khoj', 'Banegi Apni Baat', 'Sara Jahan Hamara', 'Shrikant', 'Anugoonj', 'The Great Maratha', presented his talent before the viewers and got honour from them.
Irfan Khan was a bachelor from National School of Drama (NSD) where he found opportunity for accomplishing his talent of acting. Infact the training in NSD prepared him as an actor and when he entered the field of acting he got acknowledged his actings caliber. Hi tried his luck in Hollywood also where he was welcomed with open arms. The films 'The Amazing Spider-Man', 'Life of pi', 'Jurrasic World', 'Inferno' show his substance stories in Hollywood.
For his super and fabulous actings in Hindi film he had been awarded with a number of prestigious awards in which 4 Filmfare Awards, 4 Screen Awards, 1 Stardust Awards, 2 Producers Guild Film Awards are included. Besides these awards Government of India also honoured him with 'Padma Shri' Award. It will not be irrelevant to say it that he had been brand ambassador of Government of Rajasthan till his death.
According to the film critics no hero of present day can match his acting with the acting of Irrfan Khan. After his demise the space left by him cannot be filled. In the last comment made by film critic of 'The Guardian' (London Newspaper) Mr. Peter Bradshaw about the acting of Irrfan Khan also indicates towards the greatness of his acting. He describes about Irrfan Khan as
"a distinguished and charismatic star in Hindi and English-language movies whose hardworking career was an enormously valuable bridge between South Asian and Hollywood cinema".
Irrfan Khan was a liberal Muslim who did not like fundamentalism propagated by Muslim clerics. It will be not irrelevant to quote here his mother statements about his film career. When his mother came to know that he is working as a film hero, she had expressed her displeasure. In the film industry he was seen as a respectable actor and had good relationship with all his fellow actors, actresses, producers and other people of the film industry.
